Complete Wanderer 14 Day A little luxury

49.00

This itinerary is targeted to hikers that would like to stay every night in a private room - this means no sharing, no loud snorers in your dorm keeping you up or smelly socks to contend with! (Unless your partner is the problem hiker…) This route covers most of the key highlights along the Haute Route, only missing Moiry Glacier, which doesn’t offer private rooms in their Cabane. This is a great itinerary for “light-packers” (as you don’t need to carry any additional sleeping gear) or those that are willing to spend a little extra money to enjoy more of a luxurious adventure. No judgement here!

Great for hikers that want to regularly stop, smell the wild flowers and take pictures of each and every stunning landscape they come across. Because of this, the estimated hiking times have been increased by 10%, compared to the Steady hiker, to account for a more relaxed pace. With the biggest day of elevation change registering at 2,839 metres / 9,314 feet, Wanderers will still have the fitness to turn in a solid days work on the trail when required…unless they decide to take one for the team by catching a gondola down to the village and making sure there are enough refreshments on ice for the arrival of their fellow Haute Route hikers!

Highlights for this Wanderer itinerary include

  • Sentier Trail: Amazing balcony trail above the Bagnes Valley with views of the Grand Combin Massif where the original Haute Route ski tour crosses

  • Grande-Dixence Dam: Stay a night at the base of this Swiss hydroelectric engineering marvel. It is the tallest gravity dam in the world and the tallest dam in Europe

  • Crossing Chelion Glacier: Experience a self-guided glacier crossing after stopping in at Cabane Des Dix to plot your path and enjoy some food on their patio

  • A night at Hotel Weisshorn: An institution of the Swiss Alps, Hotel Weisshorn has been in service for over 130 years. It is perched in isolation with views of the Rhone Valley and the Bernese Alps that come alive at sunset

  • Europaweg Trail: A high alpine balcony trail running up the Mattertal Valley to the Haute Route finish line, which includes the world's longest suspension bridge.

**Note: Due to the closure of a section on the Europaweg Trail, a detour has been incorporated into this itinerary
